Another big game awaits the anxious fans. Deccan Chargers  (DC) take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) ON 09 April. Both rhe teams are wearing a new look. DC has some big guns to fire. RR have all young newcomers who have excelled in domestic cricket. Here is a quick comparison.

DC

Sangakkara has been entrusted with the task of leading the team. He has done well in WC and is expected to lead his army by personal example. The team has a defined task to achieve and all players will combine to win the tournament. DC’s performance has been improving each year.

They have a reasonable batting side led by Sangakkara, Duminy, C White ( explosive batsman), M Lumb, Shikhar Dhawan ( seasoned campaigner) and a host of newcomers. Absence of Kevin Pietersen will be felt.

The bowling department is very strong with D Steyn, Ishant Sharma, Gony, Harpreet Singh and Pragyan Ojha ( leading wicket taker for DC in last season).

A host of domestic lads like Akaash Bhandari,Ambati Rayundu, R Satish and T Suman will be painfull for the opponents.

Overall , DC are a surprise package.

RR

Shane Warne as coach and Captain will once again use his guile to spin a web in opponents camp with his young team. None of the players were part of WC winning squad. But this vibrant team can turn the tables on any team.

Batting is very strong with hard hitting Ross Taylor, most consistent Shane Watson, solid Rahul Dravid. Akash Chopra, A Menaria, and few domestic local lads.

Bowling department is headed by S Tait, Local lad Deepak Chahar (created sensation in Ranji Trophy), Pankaj Singh, Spinners J Botha and Shane Warne himself.

Highly motivated, energized outfit which is a surprise package of the tournament.

My Assessment

Both teams are high in confidence with new additions swearing to do their bit.  Both have fair amount of chances of making it to the semi finals. Team with  combined team effort will win the match. We may not see many big guns firing yet, RR  is a surprise package  which could pierce weak DC batting.  Winner will be RR.
