Indian Women’s Hockey Team Qualifies For 2016 Rio Olympics

Indian women’s hockey team will take part in 2016 Rio Olympics after a long gap of 36 years. This was possible due to a quota which was released after England made it to the finals of Euro Hockey Championships in London.

The other team to qualify was Netherlands. Since both these teams had already qualified for Rio Games, a quota was released which went in favor of the team which was 5th in Women’s Hockey World League Semifinals in Antwerp, Belgium in Jul 2015  and that was India.

Other teams to qualify for Rio games are- Argentina, China, Korea, Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany, Australia, USA, New Zealand.

It is a matter of pride for the Indian team to once again try and establish it’s supremacy in the world in the women’s section.

We wish Indian team  all the very best for the Olympic games.
