The recently concluded glorious event Destination North East 2016 has left a lasting impression on the minds of all Delhiites and most Indians who thronged New Delhi to witness the event organised at Pragati Maidan from 12 to 14 Feb 2016.
The three day event highlighted Strengths, Potential and Initiatives of NE Region through stalls of all states which showed the progress made/being made in various fields.
Also, performances were put up for Folk, Classical and Contemporary Dance Choreography, Rock Music, Folk Fusion and Crossover Music, Fashion Shows depicting culturally and vibrant rich states of the region.
Let us go down the memory lane to recapitulate all the gains which emerged out of this event organised by Ministry of DoNER in collaboration with Ministry Of Culture Government Of India and executed by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur.
1. Fostering Brotherhood
The mammoth gathering of people of NE for the three day event provided an opportunity to everybody else to interact with them, taste their cuisine at various stalls, know about cultures, habit , life styles. All this helped in fostering a spirit of Brotherhood among people.
2. Exposure To Cultural Heritage
Watching great artists perform on all days left a lasting impression on the minds of people who were simply mesmerized by rich cultural heritage of NE Region. More and more people would pursue studies related to rich culture of NE and thus, cultural exchange will increase. Subsequently, development in other fields will take place as well.
3. Impact On Youth
Students from NE Region (accompanied by their friends from Delhi) studying in universities of Delhi had come out in large numbers to help out artists and organizers from their states. Most of them had set up food stalls. Thus, Delhi Youth came closer to Youth of NE Region. This was a good sign for development of camaraderie between everyone.
4. Tourism Boom
Tourism in NE Region will boom as a result of this event. Many would long to visit beautiful and scenic places in NE states and exploit tremendous entertainment/ tourism facilities.
I would like to compliment NEZCC, Dimapur for putting up splendid Cultural Shows for three days. All this was possible due to meticulous planning, hard work and perfect execution by the efficient team. Kudos to the entire team.
The way to a bright future of NE states has been paved. The entire country through social media is now aware of the potential of various tribes and ethnic groups of this culturally rich region.
Similar events will bring NE closer to rest of the country and very soon exchange of cultural, educational and technical knowledge will take place and the region will develop at a fast pace. The growth of NE means growth of India.
The entire country needs to change their mindset and accept NE states as being very close to their hearts. They must learn to appreciate arts, crafts and culture and promote the same in all events/forums in years to come.
Good Luck Everyone.
