Diwali Mela at Gumbad, Defence Colony, New Delhi has always been one of the best in South Delhi drawing massive crowds from all parts of Delhi. In a very compact circular area next to the market, colorful, decorative and perfectly laid out stalls can not escape attention of any one entering coming for the Mela.
The sight is simply mesmerizing with the entire area well lit and covered with prominent hoardings/ banners of sponsors and other advertising companies. The one way circular road, lined up on both sides with glittering stalls, remains fully crowded with enthusiasts who seldom look at their pockets to buy impressive, eye catching, artifacts and other gift items neatly stacked up in stalls manned by beautiful young girls/ ladies.
The organizing staff is very efficient and the visitors behave in a disciplined manner. Announcement booth does not waste even a minute when it comes to announcing discounts and deals at stalls.
All kinds of stalls can be noticed. Some of the segments of stalls include- Garments, Diwali gifts, Toys, Beauty, Hosiery, Chocolates, Cakes, Utensils, Lights, Paintings, Electrical items, Handicrafts for states and many more.
Blaring music, noise of public and announcements lift the spirit of visitors who in a joyous and festive mood, appear very happy and contented. I noticed many stalls well decked up. But, the best one which caught my eye was “KalaCollect“. This stall had set up and displayed it’s inventory very cleanly with a lot of aesthetic sens. I could notice very colorful Ganesha, Owls, Envelopes, Bells, Kandeels, Candles and other attractive gift items against the back drop of soothing lights.
The crowd is beginning to swell and activity level has increased. From the photo album below, you can see for yourself the glittering stalls and people moving about merrily in their colorful outfits.
I love to cover such events. Later tonight, another blog post will be sent out. Do not forget to visit www.kukikol.com for more coverage of this Grand Diwali Mela.
