Australia/India Test Series-Indian Cricket Team Loves “Go Karting”-Australia Sends Team India “Cart Wheeling” In Perth
No amount of words can express the dismal performance of Team India during Perth test. Everyone expected Dhoni and company to at least put up some resistance but, Team India stalwarts surrendered meekly, clearly indicating that the players have yet, to develop adequate skills to withstand Australian pace attack.
After “Go Carting “, Team India was sent “Cart Wheeling” all over the ground .
Who should be held responsible for the debacle and three shameful defeats in a row?
No player wants to be humiliated in the field. All try to give in their best. Yet, their best falls short of the expected performance. Are the players at fault?
The reasons for Indian defeat are many. However, i feel that the most important reason is poor selection of the team. Selectors have failed to pick the right combination of bowlers and batsmen. If one goes purely by form and statistical records in the recent past (for series played abroad), many players out of the current team should have been sitting at home.
Laxman, Kohli, Sehwag, Ashwin, Gambhir should have been axed and promising players like, A Rahane (played well in England), A Mithun, Rohit Sharma and Murli Vijay should have been played. Except Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and Umesh Yadav, no one came up to the mark.
Our selectors places their choices on old laurels. Let us face the reality that Team India has never fared well in Australia. Tough, tall , young, promising, fearless players out of IPL teams and domestic cricket should have been selected. That would never happen because, selectors have their favorites. Is it the money game or a state representation competition. No one knows.
Whatever the game, the end result is that Team India has been thrashed badly and shamelessly, all players love to have fun at “Go Karting” rather than practice seriously.
Is it “service before self” or “money before self”?
It is high time, Selectors chose two different teams – one for Test matches and the other for One Day / T 20 matches.
Let us hope that our players perform better in the final test.
