All are awaiting the clash of two Asian cricketing giants India and Sri Lanka. ” Who will win”  is the question in everyone’s mind. I have the answer. Read on.

Everyone (media and critics in particular) are calling this as a pressure game for both the teams. Will the players really be under pressure? Up to some extent yes but, not to the extent it is being hyped all over.

The players  of both the sides are experienced, have played many matches at home and abroad, know very well how to focus on the game amidst cheering crowds ( who, obviously expect their team to win) while delivering their best for the national pride………

All this makes them resolute, determined and undaunted to handle the so called phobia of pressure. They are above this pressure, floating on cloud nine with the soul aim of winning the game for their country.

Today too, they are bound to play their natural game. And finally, the better team shall win. We are in for an exciting game of cricket.

But who will win? The winner will be the team which has imbibed the following:-

1. Possesses the courage of conviction to raise it’s game  above the so called pressure.

2. Has faith/strong belief in its abilities/capabilities, hard training and dogged determination and applies it on ground.

3. Follows  the leader who sets personal example by way of performance.

4. Combines well as a cohesive unit.

5. Keeps presence of mind, holds catches, effects run outs, fields well and remains motivated. Captain’s role is very important.

6. All players must bat with a will (one’s rigorous training shows)  to stay at the crease, pick up singles, respect good deliveries of bowlers and have a lion’s heart to slog bad/lose deliveries.

7. Learnt the lessons well from previous matches.

8. Displays “never give up”  attitude.

Having seen the performance of both the teams in the current tournament, i feel Sri Lanka will have an edge over India in this encounter. Their leader, Sangakkara (captain) has been performing consistently and leading his men from the front. The team is performing very well as a unit.

The Indian captain has not performed well so far, is low in confidence (courtesy poor form) and thus, can  lead and motivate his men by just being vocal. This method does not have an impact. The team is pushing through in each match just based on individual performances.

Remember, in any encounter, battle or war, the role of  the leader at the helm of affairs matters. In this match, the role of each captain matters a lot. Sangakkara if going great guns and Dhoni is still struggling to regain his feet.

Going by the form of the team and Leader’s abilities, Sri Lanka deserve to win more than India.
